07.12.2017  16:33

On 6th December, Royal Danish Embassy in cooperation with the local partner FEWE (Foundation for Energy Efficiency Development) were hosts of a workshop on energy efficiency and combatting air pollution. The workshop which took place in Katowice was aimed at representatives of local governments and energy advisors responsible for energy management consultancy in municipalities. During the meeting, energy consultants and representatives of NGOs from Denmark presented a few case studies. Solutions implemented in Poland were presented by Danfoss Poland.

Local energy planning programmes are a key element in building an energy-efficient economy and are contributing to the fight against smog. Buildings account for almost 40% of total energy consumption and are the source of harmful dust from individual fireplaces. This gives enormous potential for savings and thus contributes to reducing pollutant emissions. The Danish experiences from implementing concrete projects at the municipal level and current results of this type of projects in Poland were presented during the workshop.
