10.09.2020  16:43

This is an important day for the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Poland and our Embassy.

Today, Ambassador Ole Toft submitted his letters of credence to President Andrzej Duda and thus officially began his mission as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Poland.

The letters of credence have a solemn character and ornamental form, often with calligraphy lettering and anachronistic vocabulary, which further underlines its seriousness. The ceremony of filing letters of credence has a very complex protocol, which may vary depending on national customs, but is similar in its essential elements. The diplomatic protocol, notifying about the date of the new ambassador's audience with the head of state, at the same time gives written instructions on the course of the ceremony, the number of accompanying associates and the dress code. In Poland, dark clothing or national costume is obligatory during the ceremony.

The ceremony began at 12:00 when a car with the Chief of Diplomatic Protocol arrived at the Embassy, which took the Ambassador and his companions, the spouse Lise Lotte Toft and the Deputy Chief of Mission Malene Bøgesvang.

After the welcome ceremony, the Ambassador handed in the letters of credence to President Andrzej Duda. The President then introduced the Ambassador to his associates and the Ambassador to his companions and then went for a short tête-à-tête.

Traditionally, the final point of the program I the laying of a wreath in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

After returning to the Embassy, a nice surprise awaited the Ambassador from our team.
