Visit of the Crown Prince Couple to Poland, 25 November 2019

The visit was held in the context of the celebration of the centenary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Poland. 

In 1918, Poland regained its independence. The autumn of 2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Poland. 
On this occasion, upon invitation of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, His Royal Highness Prince Frederik heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Denmark 
and Her Royal Highness Princess Mary Elisabeth arrived in Warsaw on 25 November 2019. 

The Crown Prince Couple was accompanied by Minister of Health, Magnus Heunicke. 

President Andrzej Duda and his spouse Agata Kornhauser-Duda welcomed the Danish Crown Prince Couple at the Presidential Palace, where they hosted Polish and Danish representatives of the world of politics, business and culture. Click here for the Crown Prince’s speech held during the official breakfast.

The programme of the visit of the Crown Prince Couple referred to many aspects of bilateral contacts between Poland and Denmark. 

The Crown Prince Couple took part in the opening of an international scientific conference “Just across the Sea. 100 Years of Polish-Danish Diplomatic Relations” held at the University of Warsaw.

They also visited the Centre of the Veteran of Operations Abroad, where the Crown Prince Couple and the Presidential Couple met with Polish and Danish veterans of foreign missions. 

During the visit, the Crown Prince Couple together with representatives of the Warsaw City Hall unveiled a plaque commemorating Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, the creator 
of Warsaw monuments to Nicolaus Copernicus and Prince Józef Poniatowski. 

Poland is Denmark's ninth largest export market and interest in Danish solutions is growing in many areas. Crown Prince Frederik and President Andrzej Duda participated in round-table talks with Polish and Danish stakeholders on cooperation in the energy sector, 
with a special focus on renewable energy. 

At that time, Crown Princess Mary Elisabeth officially inaugurated the Warsaw branch 
of the "Cities Changing Diabetes" initiative and took part in a panel devoted 
to the integration of people with disabilities.  

The visit culminated with a grand concert at the Teatr Dramatyczny in Warsaw, hosted 
by Czesław Mozil, a Danish-Polish musician and accordion virtuoso.
