Heating
The directions for the transformation of the entire heating sector are set out in the National Energy and Climate Plan for 2021-2030 (NEPCC) and
Energy Policy of Poland until 2040. (PEP 2040).
By 2040, the heating needs of all households are to be covered by system heat and by zero- or low-carbon individual sources. A significant increase in interest in photovoltaics is expected, which will enable low-cost electricity to be used to drive heat pumps and a shift to heat generation from electricity. Natural gas is expected to act as a bridge fuel in the energy transition. The most anticipated innovations for district heating could be:
heat storage technologies, renewable electricity storage, and hydrogen technologies.
